How to Join
Becoming a firefighter is an extremely rewarding opportunity, allowing one to serve their community and help others in need. West Lake Fire Department is always looking for new members. Read below to find out how you can join WLFD.
In order to become a member at West Lake Fire Department:
- You must be 18 years old (Those who are 16 or 17 years old are eligible for the Junior Firefighter Program)
- You must have a High School/GED diploma
- You must have no criminal record
- You must possess a valid PA driver's license
- You must be able to pass a background process
To get started, print and fill out the application below. Once you complete the application, submit it to one of the chiefs or drop it off at Station 1 at the intersection of West 8th and Powell Avenue (6:45 PM on Wednesdays is an ideal time due to weekly drills). All applications will be submitted to the Membership Committee for approval. If all requirements are met, the Membership Committee will contact you for an interview and your membership status will be voted upon by the members of the department.
