Fire at Harrington Laundry
August 22, 2008
On August 22nd, West Lake was dispatched for a fire alarm at Harrington Laundry. Chief 481 arrived on scene and reported a sprinkler activation. It was quickly determined that there was a fire inside and Chief requested the tower from West Ridge and an Engine from Lake Shore. Crews found that there was a fire in several laundry bins and the sprinkler system had held the fire in check. Crews remained on the scene for about an hour doing salvage and overhaul.

Vehicle Accident on West 8th Street
August 21, 2008
On August 21st around 5:30 PM, West Lake, along with MPS, was dispatched to the 2300 block of West 8th for a two vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found two vehicles with moderate damage. One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Crews remained on scene for about 20 minutes for cleanup.

Airport Disaster Drill

On Wednesday August 20th, West Lake, along with several other agencies, participated in the annual disaster drill at Erie International Airport. Crews assisted in fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Vehicle Accident at 26th and Millfair

Around 4:30 AM on Saturday morning, West Lake was sent to assist West Ridge with the Rescue of a one car motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival, 488 assisted with extrication of the front seat passenger and treatment of other victims. A total of 3 people were transported to the trauma center. Millcreek Police are investigating this accident.

Vehicle Accident on West 12th

Around 3:30 PM on Thursday, West Lake was dispatched to the 3400 block of West 12th Street for a car vs. pole accident. Upon arrival, crews found a Erie yellow cab that had struck a pole. MPS transported the driver to a local hospital with minor injuries and crews remain until Penelec arrived. Chief 480 had command of this incident.

House Fire on Camelot Drive
August 1, 2008
Around 8 AM on Friday morning, Engine 9 assisted West Ridge on a house fire in the Camelot subdivision. The first arriving Chief reported a working basement fire. An aggressive interior attack was made by Tower 10's crew and they were able to hold the fire to the basement area. Chief 460 had command of this incident.

West Lake, along with MPS, was dispatched to the 3000 block of W 12th Street just before 1 PM on Wednesday for a two car accident. Crews assisted MPS and helped with debris clean-up. All units cleared scene in about 30 minutes.

On Wednesday night, crews from West Lake, Lake Shore, and West Ridge were dispatched to a reported basement fire at the Erie Airport Terminal Building. Upon arrival, Chief 490 quickly determined that it was a problem with a transformer unit & the fire was out.

Firefighter Safety and Survival Course
July 19-20, 2008
This weekend, several members of area departments participated in a Firefighter Safety & Survival Class which West Lake sponsored. Four Pennsylvania State Instructors for the City of Pittsburgh Fire Department traveled up to West Lake to teach this class.

On Friday during evening rush hour, West Lake responded to West 12th and Plaza for a two car MVA. Both vehicles received minor damage, but caused traffic buildup. West Lake assisted with traffic control and patient care.

Around 1:30 am on Wednesday morning, crews from West Lake were dispatched for a shed fire in the 1500 block of Taki Drive. Chief 490 arrived on scene and reported a working fire in a shed with extension into the mobile home. Quick work by Engine 4's crew was able to hold the fire in the back bedroom of the trailer.Crews remained on the scene for about 2 hours. Chief 490 had command of this incident. This fire is currently under investigation by Millcreek Police Dept.

Around 1700 on Monday, multiple agencies were dispatched to Presque Isle State Park for a two vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found two vehicles with moderate to heavy damage with a total of 5 people injured. Crews from Rescue 1 & Rescue 5 assisted with patient care. Millcreek Paramedic Service transported 4 patients to the Trauma Center. Do to transport time the most critically injured patient was transported across the bay by the USCG Rescue boat with Emergycare Paramedics aboard. West Lake crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour. Presque Isle Park Police are investigating this accident. Chief 481 had command.

Shortly after 11 AM on Monday morning, West Lake was dispatched to Value City for a brush fire. Chief 481 arrived on location and reported a 20 foot long area of bark burning. A bystander tried to use fire extinguishers to knock down this stubborn blaze with little success. Crews were on scene for about 15 minutes.

Alert 2 at Erie International Airport

On Sunday May 11th, West Lake along with several other departments were dispatched to Erie Airport for an Aircraft Emergency. The inbound jet reported smoke filling the cockpit and needed to make a emergency landing. The aircraft landed safely and all the passengers denied any injuries. West Lake cleared scene in about 30 minutes. Chief 481 had command.

Natural Gas Odors Throughout Territory

Local departments were busy on Monday evening with several houses having an odor of Natural Gas in them. West Lake responded to 27 investigations in a 5 hour period. National Fuel is investigating the cause of this problem which stretched from State St. west into North & South West Millcreek.

Crews were dispatched shortly after 2 am for a house fire on Montpeiler Ave today. Chief 481 arrived to report smoke pouring out of the residence. Crews from E-9 & TK-2 found a smoldering fire in the basement of the residence. West Lake worked for about an hour on scene. Chief 490 had command.

West Lake & MPS were dispatch shortly after 3 am on Saturday for a vehicle accident. While crews were responding, dispatch stated that PD was reporting one vehicle into a house. Upon arrival, crews reported one vehicle with heavy damage. The lone driver was taken into custody by MPD. L-9 had command of this incident.
