West Ridge for a vehicle accident on Monday around 0930 hrs. MPS
reported one class 2 patient and one class 5. 488 assisted with
extrication and roadway cleanup. West Lake was on
scene for approximately 3 hours. Chief 460 had command. ________________________________________________________________________ Vehicle Accident at 12th and Peninsula West Lake & MPS were
dispatched to West 12th & Peninsula around 2230 hrs on Saturday for a
vehicle accident. Chief 481 arrived on scene and reported 3 vehicles with minor
damage. One driver was transported with minor injuries and crews remained on
scene for about 20 minutes until the roadway was cleared. _________________________________________________________________________ Vehicle Accident on West 8th On
Sunday afternoon, West Lake, along with MPS, was dispatched to the
2700 block of W 8th for a motorcycle accident. The operator of the bike
was transported to the trauma center with moderate injuries and the
driver of the truck was uninjured. Crews remained on the scene for
about 20 minutes. _________________________________________________________________________ Fire at Eriez Magnetics April 23, 2009 On
Thursday, West Lake sent two engines & a truck to Eriez Magnetics
for a structure fire. Crews worked for about an hour to contain the
fire which was behind a metal wall and extended to the roof. _________________________________________________________________________ West Lake Assists Kearsarge at Granada Apts On
Saturday March 28th, around 2240 hours, West Lake assisted Kearsarge
with E-482 & Tk-489 to the Granada Apartments for a structure fire.
The fire proceeded to four alarms, bringing companies in from around
Erie County. West Lake crews remained on scene for over 7 hours, but
Kearsarge had crews there for two days. Everyone was able to escape

Thursday night around 3 am, West Lake was sent to a car into house in
the 3800 block of West 12th Street. There were no injuries, but the car
and house sustained moderate to heavy damage. Crews were on scene for
more than a hour. Chief 480 had command.

Brush Fire at Robertson's Kitchen

Friday around 2000 hrs, West Lake was sent to a reported structure fire
at Robertson's Kitchens on West 12th Street. Chief 481 arrived to find
a brush fire running along the building. Crews quickly extinguished the
fire and checked the building, which had minor extension. Crews were on
scene for about 45 minutes. Chief 481 had command of this incident.

after a vehicle ran into the back of a city bus. Crews from West Lake

Trash Fire on Millfair Road

Around
1930 hrs on Saturday, E-482 assisted West Ridge at the Millfair Road
Dump for a large trash fire. A pile of plastic drainage pipe owned by
the township was on fire. Local news reported that smoke could be seen
from 10 miles away. 482 cleared the scene around 2200 hrs.

Vehicle Accident at 10th and Powell

West Lake
& MPS were dispatched shortly after 5 PM to West 10th & Powell for a two
car accident. Two people were transported to a local hospital with minor
injures. Crews remained on scene cleaning up roadway and traffic control.
West Lake Assists West Ridge On
March 23rd, West Lake, along with Kearsarge, was dispatched to assist
West Ridge at a fire inside the Hong Kong Restaurant located in the
K-mart Plaza. Crews from West Ridge were able to knock down the fire
quickly. However, some extension traveled into the Giant Eagle store.
Crews remained on the scene for over 2 hours performing overhaul and
ventilation. West Ridge apparatus 472, 473, 479, West Lake 482, 483,
489, & Kearsarge 442 all responded to this incident. ________________________________________________________________________

Just after 11 PM on Saturday night, West Lake & MPS responded to the 3600 block of West 12th for a one car accident. Chief 481 arrived on scene to find an SUV on its side with the driver out walking around. Crews remained on the scene for debris cleanup and traffic control until vehicle was removed.

Crews from West Lake worked on Patient care, roadway cleanup, and traffic control. The Peninsula Drive hill had to be closed for sometime due to icy conditions. Two Patients were transported by MPS from the scene.

West Lake Performs Ice Rescue
February 10, 2009
On Tuesday evening at approximately 1645 hours, West Lake was dispatched to Bear Beach for two subjects stuck on the ice. Chief 481 arrived on scene and determined that Rescue 486 ( Ice Boat ) would be needed for this rescue. The two subjects were approx 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile off shore on ice. 486 launched from Walnut Creek Access and traveled across ice to the subjects. After arriving, FF's W. Betz & B. Betz walked about 20 yards from boat to assist the two parties onto boat where they were transported to shore with out injury. After months of training with the ice rescue boat, this was the first actual live rescue. The crew of R. Trohoske, G. Bules, B. Betz & W. Betz did a outstanding job. West Lake was assisted by USCG, Millcreek Paramedics & Millcreek Police. 481 terminated command at 1813 hrs.

On Sunday morning, with temperatures around 0 degrees, West Lake assisted West Ridge Fire Dept. at a fire inside the Burger King Restaurant. When crews arrived the found a grease fire in the kitchen that had extended into the ventilation system to the roof. Crews were able to control the fire quickly and West Lake cleared the scene in an hour.

Retired City of Erie Fire Chief Richard Robb was laid to rest on Thursday 1/22/2009 surrounded by Erie & County Firefighters, Family, & Friends. Chief Robb was a Erie Firefighter for 36 years and a Honorary Life Member of West Lake Fire Department. West Lake sends its deepest condolences & prayers to the Robb Family. 1928 - 2009.

West Lake Responds to Vehicle Fire

On Sunday evening, crews from West Lake were dispatched to the 3100 block of West Lake Road. Chief 490 arrived on scene and reported a working vehicle fire with exposure problems. 482 arrived on scene and started suppression efforts while 483's crew checked the residence for extension. This fire is being investigated by the Millcreek Police Department.

House Fire on West Lake Road
January 6, 2009
Units were dispatched shortly before 9 am on Tuesday for a house fire in the 4200 block of West Lake Road. Chief 931 arrived on scene and reported smoke and fire showing. After E-482 tagged the hydrant, crews attempted to make an interior attack but were driven back by heavy fire. 481 advised crews to go to a defensive attack immediately. After two hours of attacking the fire from the outside, command shut down master streams and crews chased the fire around on the inside. West Lake cleared the scene around 1530 hours. Assisting departments were West Ridge, Lake Shore, Airport FD, Millcreek Response Team & Kearsarge FD. Fire is currently being investigated by Millcreek Police.

Vehicle Accident On Clifford Drive

Early Sunday afternoon, West Lake was dispatched to Clifford Drive for a one vehicle accident. Chief 480 arrived on scene and reported one vehicle with heavy damage. After scene assessment, one Class 1 patient and one Class 2 patient were found. Both occupants were transported to the trauma center by Millcreek Paramedics.

Electrical Fire on Lowell Avenue

West Lake assisted West Ridge on Monday evening for an electrical fire inside a residence. When Chief 460 arrived on scene, he reported a working attic fire. Crews from 479, 472, and 482 made a aggressive interior attack to knock down the fire, but extensive overhaul was needed. 482 was on scene for about two hours.

After a heavy snowfall, West Lake was dispatched around 6:30 AM Sunday morning for a vehicle accident. 481 arrived on scene and reported one vehicle with heavy damage with the driver pinned. Crews from Rescue 488 & 485 worked quickly to extricate the patient using the Hurst Tool. Emergycare transported the driver to Hamot Trauma Center with critical injuries and crews remained on scene assisting Millcreek Police Accident Investigators.

Exotic Bird Rescue

On Thanksgiving, West Lake was dispatched to assist a homeowner on Forrest Drive. When crews arrived, they were told that the owner's exotic bird got out of the house and was stuck up in the tree. Along with help from the concerned family, crews attempted to retrieve the bird, but were unsuccessful. The bird returned home two days later.

Crews from 482 & 489 discovered a small electrical fire in the ceiling above the main entrance. Crews were able to contain the fire and cleared the scene in about an hour. Around 4:30 on Monday afternoon, West Lake was dispatched to West 12th & Peninsula for a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found a total of 5 cars involved including one SUV that had rolled over 4 times. A Millcreek Police officer witnessed the entire crash while sitting at the traffic light. Crews assisted with Patient care, extrication, traffic control, and debris clean-up. One male driver was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Fast Team to McKean
October 10, 2008
Around 4 AM, West Lake was dispatched to assist McKean with Fast Team. Upon arrival, the crew found a mobile home fully engulfed with McKean Hose making an attack. After the fire was knocked down, Rescue 1's crew assisted with overhaul. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating this incident.
