T
hree WLFD Members Obtain Firefighter II

January 5, 2008

Congratulations to Lieutenant Chris Hermann, former Chief Darryl Tavernese, and firefighter Jeff Cole. They recently achieved state certification at the Firefighter II level. Tavernese obtained his Firefighter I certification several years ago along with former Assistant Chief Al Behr. Cole and Hermann were certified at the Firefighter I level in 2006.

The certification process, in addition to improving the certified members’ knowledge and skills, assists the fire department in its standing for grant applications. West Lake has achieved status as a “participating department” under the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner’s certification program, and as a result can display the program’s Keystone logo on its vehicle apparatus.
